More stripping and cleaning work this month. I managed to find the gearbox somewhere beneath the mass of old oil and caked on grease. At least the muck stopped the gearbox from rusting away. I will take the gearbox to a friend's to check out, more news on this at a later date. I cleaned off and primed the bell housing and skid plate. Also, I had to hammer straight the offside end of the cross member where it bolts to the chassis. I then started work on the first of the springs. Luckily, I managed to undo all the bolts despite the heavy corrosion. I shall wire brush all the spring leaves and apply a small amount of grease to them before reassembling using new bolts.
